With over 35 international outreach programmes to date, reaching patients in 11 different countries around the world, SmileStar not only allows dental professionals to use their skills and knowledge to perform urgent care, but also to teach local dentists, therapists, and doctors to carry out painless extractions, creating a long-term strategy for improving oral health.
Many healthcare professionals have remarked that their time with the SmileStar team has been one of the most rewarding and enriching experiences of their lives, noting the incredible spirit across the team.
Dr Magdalena Laskowska, Principal Dentist at Harwood Dental Practice in Tavistock, Devon, reflects on her experiences with SmileStar.
“I support various charities, but SmileStar is special. Every trip has an impact on lives of patients but also on our own lives. Each trip is a unique experience, and even though it is geared to give to other people, I always come back feeling that I have been given so much.”
