Bonjela Junior Ulcer Gel - 15g 

Bonjela Junior Ulcer Gel is an oromucosal gel suitable for children that is used to relieve the pain and discomfort from mouth ulcers, that contains a local anaesthetic. 

Bonjela Junior Ulcer Gel contains lidocaine hydrochloride which relieves pain and irritation, and cetalkonium chloride, an antiseptic that kills bacteria and helps prevent infection.

  • Contains lidocaine anaesthetic. 
  • Colourless clear gel for soothing pain relief. 
  • Anti-inflammatory. 

Bonjela Junior Ulcer Gel Information For The User

  • If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. 
  • You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse. 
  • This medicine contains 242.2mg of alcohol (ethanol) in each 1g. The amount in each 1g of this medicine is equivalent to less than 7ml of beer or 3ml of wine. The small amount of alcohol in this medicine will not have any noticeable effects.  
  • It may cause a burning sensation on damaged skin. This medicine contains less than 1 mmol of sodium (23 mg) in each dose, that is to say, essential sodium-free. This medicine contains fragrance with Eugenol. Eugenol may cause allergic reactions. 

What Is Bonjela Junior Ulcer Gel Used For?

  • Bonjela Junior gel is an oromucosal gel and is used to relieve the pain and discomfort of common mouth ulcers. 

  • Bonjela Junior gel is a clear, almost colourless gel which is applied to the inside of the mouth or gums. 

  • lt contains a local anaesthetic called lidocaine hydrochloride, which relieves pain and irritation and an antiseptic called cetylpyridinium chloride, which kills bacteria and helps prevent infection. 

What Do You Need To Know Before You Use Bonjela Junior Ulcer Gel 

  • As with all medicines, Bonjela Junior Gel may not be suitable for everybody. 
  • Do not use if you or your child is allergic to lidocaine, cetylpyridinium chloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
  • Do not use if you or your child is allergic to other local anaesthetics. 
  • Do not give to babies under 5 months of age.
  • Do not use if you suffer from abnormal blood pigment levels.
  • Bonjela Junior gel is not suitable for the treatment of teething in children. 

Bonjela Warnings And Precautions

  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you or your child has heart or liver problems. 

Other medicines and Bonjela

  • Bonjela Junior Gel should not be taken when taking medicines treating high blood pressure (propranolol, bisoprolol), stomach conditions (cimetidine), water-retention (diuretics) or medicines used to treat depression (fluvoxamine). 
  • Speak to your pharmacist or doctor before taking this product with other medicines, including the following: other local anaesthetics; or similar medicines, e.g. antiarrhythmic drugs (mexiletine). 
  • The antibiotic erythromycin or the antifungal medicine itraconazole. 

Pregnancy And Breastfeeding With Bonjella Junior Ulcer Gel

  • If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding, speak to your doctor or your pharmacist before using this medicine. 

How To Use Bonjela Junior Ulcer Gel 

  • For adults, the elderly and children over 5 months. Check that the cap is unbroken before first using the product. 
  • For use in the mouth only. Apply a little gel to the painful or sore area with either a clean fingertip or swab. 
  • This may be repeated after 20 minutes and then every 3 hours. 
  • If symptoms worsen or do not go away, see your doctor or dentist. 
  • If you miss a dose, just apply a new dose and follow the instructions as before. Do not exceed the stated dose. In the event of an overdose, seek medical advice.

How To Store Bonjela Junior Ulcer Gel 

  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Do not use Bonjela after the expiry date, which is stated on the carton and on the tube. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
  • Do not store above 25°C.
  • Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

  • Lidocaine hydrochloride 0.5% w/w and cetylpylidinium chlonde 0.025% w/w.

  • Ethanol (alcohol).
  • Glycerol
  • Fragrance containing allergens (Eugenol) in banana flavour.
  • Sodium saccharin.
  • Carbomer.
  • Triethanolamine.
  • Water.
