Riva Star

Tooth Desensitising Agent and Cavity Cleaner.

A STAR product containing three powerful components: Silver, Iodide & Fluoride - Together, these have a powerful effect to provide instantaneous and ongoing relief from hypersensitivity.

Riva Star is also an effective biofilm inhibitor with a higher inhibition zone against four bacterial species compared to sodium hypochlorite. Riva Star conditions dentine and may assist tooth preservation.

Pre-treating tooth surfaces with Riva Star is a great way to enhance bonding of glass ionomers to dentine. Riva Star’s two step patented procedure minimises the risk of staining.By applying the potassium iodide solution over the silver fluoride, a silver iodide creamy white precipitate is formed and washed off.

Hi, I wanna know can we use this product to an 18 month baby? Would it be safe?

Question submitted by: Asma on: 2018-02-10 00:03:20

Riva Star can only be used by a registered dentist, there's nothing obvious saying it can't be used on children in the instructions but there may well be issues in a child that young.

The product is used to treat hypersensitivity so that would more commonly be associated with adult dentition.

We wouldn't recommend it for young children without speaking to the manufacturer first.

If you need more detailed information it would be best to contact the manufacturer SDI directly which you can do by emailing them on
