What size of syringe do I need?

A syringe for dental anaesthetic cartridges will be designed to match the size of the anaesthetic cartridge that you are using; this will either be the 1.8ml anaesthetic cartridge which is the most common outside of the UK, or the 2.2ml size cartridge that's traditionally more popular in the UK.

What is the difference between an aspirating syringe and a standard non-aspirating syringe?

Aspirating syringes contain a mechanism that allows for safer and easier aspiration. Aspiration 'pulls back' to remove fluid or cells or create a vacuum which can help dental professionals to ensure that they are administering injections to the appropriate location.

Aspiration may not always be desired or advisable so standard non-aspiratinge syringes are also available.

Do I need a metric thread syringe or an imperial thread syringe?

Dental cartridge syringes will have have a thread allowing you to easily twist and secure disposable needles into position. This thread differs slightly depending on the type of needles used so if you are using imperial thread disposable needles then you would choose an imperial thread cartridge syringe and if you are using metric thread needles then you would select a metric thread cartridge syringe instead. 

In the UK imperial thread needles and syringes are the most commonly used.
